Get your oven hot at 350°F (180°C). Butter your baking dish (8×8-inch works great) or put down some parchment.

Throw the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Put it aside for now.

Take another bowl and beat the soft butter with sugar until it's puffy and pale.

Drop in the egg and vanilla, then stir until everything's mixed up good.

Slowly pour the dry stuff into the butter mix, stirring until you've got nice dough.

Push the dough flat across your pan, making sure it's spread out all the way to the edges.

Mix up the cinnamon and 2 tablespoons sugar in a little cup. Dust it all over your dough.

Stick it in your hot oven for 25-30 minutes. It's done when the sides turn golden and a toothpick comes out clean from the middle.

Wait until it's totally cool before you cut it into squares.
