Slice up your pepperoni and shred the mozzarella if it's not done. You want everything nearby for later.

Whack the broiler on medium-high and the grill or grill pan too. Lay your buns out, cut side facing up, on a baking sheet. Toast them till you see that golden color. Take just the tops off and put them aside for now.

Dump the ground beef in a big bowl. Work in the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning with your hands till it looks even. Shape into 4 patties and let them chill a bit.

Pop patties onto the grill. Cook around 4 or 5 minutes per side. You want them cooked through.

While the burgers are sizzling, gently heat the pizza sauce on low. Slather half on the bottom buns, sprinkle with mozzarella, add some pepperoni. Slip under the broiler for a couple of minutes so it gets melty.

Set the finished burgers right on the saucy cheesy buns. Spoon on the rest of the pizza sauce, toss on more mozzarella, and add more pepperoni up top. Broil again till the cheese bubbles and pepperoni starts to crisp.

Set the top buns in place and jump in while it’s hot.
