Maple Sausage Bites (Printable Version)

Little snacks with cheddar, maple, and sausage all baked inside pancake batter. Perfect for mornings when you want something fun.

# What You'll Need:

→ Batter

01 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
02 - 1/4 cup maple syrup, plus extra for drizzling
03 - 1 1/2 cups water
04 - 2 cups Hungry Jack pancake mix

→ Filling

05 - 1 pound (453 g) breakfast sausage

# Step-by-Step Guide:

01 - Once they're out of the oven, let them cool just a bit and enjoy with more maple syrup if you want.
02 - Drop spoonfuls of the batter into your greased muffin cups. Slide the pan into the hot oven and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, until tops look golden and a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
03 - Gently fold cooked sausage and shredded cheese into your batter, mixing just enough so it's all spread through.
04 - Pour pancake mix, water, and maple syrup into a large bowl. Stir softly—don't overdo it. Stop when everything is just combined.
05 - Using a large skillet on medium-high heat, cook the sausage until there's no pink left. Scoop it out with a slotted spoon onto paper towels to soak up the oil.
06 - Turn your oven on to 400°F (204°C). Coat your mini muffin tray with butter or nonstick spray, then set it aside.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Give the batter just a quick mix so your bites stay soft. Stirring too much can make them tough.
02 - You can stash leftovers in the fridge or freezer. Warm them up whenever you want a snack.
