Fill up your espresso or demitasse cups and hand them out right away. Want to top it off with some whipped cream? Go for it. You can also offer sparkling water for sipping if you want.

Whisk the chopped chocolate right into the hot milk and cream mixture off the stove. Mix until it’s silky and all melted in. If you notice any lumps, pop it back on low heat just until it’s smooth—don’t let it boil.

Pour your whole milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Heat on medium and give it a gentle stir every now and then. When it’s steaming (but not bubbling), you’re good to go.
