Chili Garlic Herb Bread (Printable Version)

Fiery garlic bread packed with Calabrian chili, slow-roasted garlic, fresh basil and grated parmesan.

# What You'll Need:

01 - 1 stick room-temp soft butter (1/2 cup)
02 - 2 large garlic heads
03 - 1 teaspoon olive oil
04 - Table salt
05 - Cracked black pepper
06 - 1/4 cup fresh chopped basil and parsley
07 - 1/4 cup grated parmesan, plus extra if you want
08 - 1/2 teaspoon spicy Calabrian chili paste (or regular chili flakes)
09 - 1 sourdough or french bread loaf

# Step-by-Step Guide:

01 - Set your oven to 400°F (205°C) and let butter soften. Cut the tops off garlic heads, add a little olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Wrap them up in foil and bake for 40-50 mins until they're soft and golden.
02 - Take the garlic out and let it cool down. Turn your oven down to 350°F (175°C).
03 - Put the soft butter in a bowl. Add your chopped herbs, parmesan, spicy chili paste, some salt and pepper. Squeeze the cooled garlic cloves out of their skins into the bowl and mix everything up well.
04 - Cut your bread into small rounds and put them on a baking sheet with parchment.
05 - Smear the flavored butter mix on each bread slice and sprinkle more parmesan on top if you'd like. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 mins until the edges get crispy but the middle stays soft, and the butter melts nicely.
06 - Pull them out of the oven, maybe add more parmesan, and enjoy while they're hot.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Get the good stuff - real parmesan and fresh herbs make all the difference.
02 - That Calabrian chili paste gives a special kick, but regular chili flakes work too if you can't find it.
